We met Jim Schreiner almost 20 years ago. He was good friends with Shirl and John Stacy of Lean-2 Studio where I was working at that time. Jim has done a variety of things over the years but furniture making has been continuous with his business Great Sacandaga Designs now doing mostly consignment work.
Paul and I were not familiar with the Valley Artisan’s Market when we received a phone call last fall asking if we would do a joint exhibit with Jim. Seeing the potential in getting some exposure in an area that was new to us, we were happy to accept the invitation. Six months later and three trips to Cambridge now, we have our display set up and ready for viewing through June 6.
Our botanical lamp shades are a perfect match to Jim’s furniture with his carved leaf accents. Like Paul and I, Jim gets his inspiration from the beauty that surrounds him here in the Adirondacks. Starting with a variety of woods such as cedar, maple and birch then adding the beautifully detailed carvings, Great Sacandaga Designs creates family heirlooms that will be treasured for generations.
So if you would love a wonderful outing, please take a trip to beautiful Cambridge, NY and visit the Small Gallery at Valley Artisan’s Market. It is located at 23 Main Street and open Wednesday through Saturday 10-5 and Sunday 11-2:30. There you will find the talented work of over 20 member artists, along with some of our Living Lights paired with the work of our friend Jim Schreiner… Compliments of Nature!!
